A Stitch In Time Poem by Ima Ryma

A Stitch In Time

Ben Franklin was a late night guy,
In Paris on some biz and fun,
Woke up to a bright sunny sky,
At 6 a.m. - what had he done!
Forgot to shut the shutters so
Woke earlier than normal noon.
Ben pondered in the early glow,
Early rising should be a boon,
Induce folks to get up at dawn.
Cannons, church bells, such sounds to rock,
Candle ration, shutter tax on,
Even change time, changing the clock.

The satire side of Ben awoke.
Daylight savings time was a joke.
