A Simple Cottonwood Poem by Marilyn Lott

A Simple Cottonwood

Rating: 5.0

It was just a simple cottonwood
I saw it every day
I walked passed it without thinking
But it meant more than I can say.

So pleasant was its appearance
Leaves blowing in the wind
Was relaxing with its rustling sound
A sweet message it would send.

It was part of the landscape, you know?
It put its mark upon the street
But when they cut it down, my friend
I lost that special treat.

I'm sad because I never thought
It wouldn't be right where it stood
I have to accept it but I'll remember
That special and simple cottonwood!

This shows how nature and its landscape becomes a part of our consciousness. Thank for sharing. I'm sad because I never thought It wouldn't be right where it stood
