A Scene At The Signal Poem by Aaliya Thahseen

A Scene At The Signal

Rating: 4.5

I gazed out the window
And saw a girl in tatters
Clutching a baby to her bosom
And clanging thin platters,

She had hunger blindfolding her
And another mouth to feed
It was a rueful sight of disrepair
Barbarous and indubitably unfair,

Moving from one window to another
Internally pleading the signal to stay red
She runs in an already lost race
With both their stomachs unfed,

She sat down with dejection
Letting the tears to fall freely
Hoping for a miracle
And a faraway blissful dream! !
