A River Poem by JoAnn McGrath

A River

The rivers edge
becomes a pledge
Rapids, riptides, undertows
I'm diving in and letting go

I'm diving in
with all my sins
I've gone down deep
I'm thankful that I took the leap

Painful, purges, purity
washed away entirely
Thankful of the Lord's decree
The river now runs through me

Wow, that really illustrated to me the concept of living waters! It also reminds me of one of my favourite books, an allegorical book Hinds Feet in High Places by Hannah Hurnard. It touches on a similar metephor but with a waterfall.
