A Poem By A Poet Long Gone - Untitled

Rating: 5.0

Within thy floral album cousin I see,
Flowers that I know, and that are dear to me -
But one I miss - in vain for it I've sought,
It is my favorite, sweet forget-me-not.

Yes little flower, I love thy simple grace,
I love thy leaves, I love thy pale blue face-
Cousin, to thee, whate'er shall be thy lot,
Apply it's name to me - 'Forget me not'.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was at a local swap meet yesterday, and I found an album of poems from the 1800's. The album contains 27 poems, all hand written, most between family members. It is like I was meant to find them. I would like to share a few with my fellow poets. Enjoy

Latest results of my research. Mary Eleanor Junkin was born 7 February 1836 at Milton, Pennsylvania. Father: David Xavier Junkin, Mother: Jane McCleery. Mary penned this poem on her 15th birthday. The Junkin Family is rich in history. One of her relatives, whose poems are also on poemhunter, is poet: Margaret Junkin Preston,1820 - 1897 USA, Her 26 poems were all entered on the same day,12 October 2010. I believe I have found a treasure! ! ! !
