फ़र का वृक्ष इक निपट अकेला,
उत्तर के पर्वत पर स्थित था,
एक श्वेत कंबल में सोया,
बर्फ और हिम में कम्पित था.
एक ताड़ का वृक्ष स्वप्न में आता उसके,
कहीं दूर पूरब की धरती पर,
सुबकता है वो एकाकी और चुपके चुपके,
जब रेत सुलगती अंदर बाहर.

A single fir-tree, lonely,
on a northern mountain height,
sleeps in a white blanket,
draped in snow and ice.
His dreams are of a palm-tree,
who, far in eastern lands,
weeps, all alone and silent,
among the burning sands.
Again a heart touching translation of poem gives nice effect on minds of readers. Many dreams lie on palm tree and life feels these very well. A single fir-tree remains lonely touching the height of mountain. Very interesting one! ..10

Some one who haven't read a particular poem in English but reading a translation of it and finding it amazing and fascinating and want to read the original creation....then....that means the translation was tremendous and a translator have done a fantabulous job.......loved it.....amazing :)

Heine is a poet still well worth reading and translating. The fir-tree is exactly personified.
