A New Heaven... Poem by Sahil Mamtani

A New Heaven...

I heard the shots of lead,
In the summer of death,
As the smokes moved out from the barrel of gun,
Wonder if it weren't too late,
For it could not have been too late,
As history would repeat itself,
So here we are,
fighting another treacherous war,
With aggression at it's height,
On all the fronts of ambition,
I never thought of such a tradition,
To die with honor was a motivation,
I never knew I was a creature built for repetitions,
To die death as cruel as a crime,
Though not justified even for a dime,
Having faith alone would not prevail,
Though it did give a will,
That 'will' danced across to heal,
To heal the wounds of the ill,
For I knew that only a brave heart can face the gates of hell,
And even so that was not enough,
So I wept and hoped for crying souls,
That the future bestow upon us a new heaven!
