When God put me here on this earth
He gave me a mountain to climb,
He showed me my true worth
And he also showed me that I was worth his time.
Of course I walked across many rocks
And many times I did slip and fall,
Of course I took many trips and knocks
And many times for God's help I did call.
That mountain I continued to scale
This adventure of mine I would never stop,
I knew that I would or could not fail
Because, I was going to make it to the very top.
I always kept pulling myself higher
Nothing or no one was going to ever stop me,
Pleasing the Lord is my greatest desire
Because of the Lord my soul is full of glee.
I got hungry and my limbs got sore
And many times I had to stop and rest,
I got confused and angry to the core
But, I promised myself I would finish my quest.
During the climb I was used and diverted
And I was tricked and intensionally slowed down,
I was left abandoned and deserted
By smiles, tears and kisses and even a frown.
When I finally got to the top of the mountain
There was no more pushing or even shoves,
I quenched my thirst from a flowing fountain
Then, I laced up a pair of gloves.
