New to Poem Hunter. Wow! This is a beautifully worded poem. I think every Mother should read this poem out loud to her child(ren) at least once in their lifetime. Very special indeed.

'Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself and though they come through you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love, but not your thoughts. for they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies, but not their souls. For their souls live in the land of tomorrow which you may not visit, even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them. But seek not to make them like you, for life goes not backward, nor tarries with yesterday.' Your beautiful poem reminded me of these words from Gibran's The Prophet, which I have typed here from memory. You share the wonder and joy of motherhood with great humility and heart-felt tenderness in this very special poem. love, Allie xxxx

Ih here you have shown some of the many reasons we are thankful for our children, They are the greatest gifts of life...When young we are their very world..When older they survive as we've taught them to do, on their own, making their own lives....I wonder than, sometimes.why it is so easy for them to more or less forget at times, the one whose always been there for them....Enjoy them while their in your care and young for these are the best years of your life...A wonderful poem.........marci.xo

This is very simple and sentimental, but it has structure, and is very evocative. Nice work.
