A Most Peculiar Rhyme Poem by sue crocker

A Most Peculiar Rhyme

Rating: 4.3

Paint a picture of a rainbow,
And a bridge of cobbled stone,
And a lady on the riverbank,
Will surely set the tone,

Think of summer in the countryside,
Or romance in the dales,
Or unrequited love,
All at once the picture pales,

Paint a wood of fine trees,
And a woodcutter as well,
Bring the lady out a walking,
And you have a tale to tell,

Let the two people meet,
And let them become friends,
No not married or a couple,
Like most stories end,

This is not a happy ever after,
Its a rhyme that has no reason,
for it only goes to show,
We are in the silly season,

So paint your picture of your rainbow,
And your bridge of cobble stone,
But please omit your lady,
She's decided to stay home.

Sue, I like this poem a lot. It is creative as it deals with the process of creativity. (Like a box inside a box) The ending is a nice twist too.
