A Misfit Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

A Misfit

A Misfit

My dear older son
It is time for a talk.

I can see your anger
When you saw as great.
Job-offer of that sheikh.

Very young and eager,
You wanted I accept
To fly his chopper.

Knowing me far better
I said "No, " rejected.

May not know what I mean,
Go and watch "The Misfits."

Investment is Dubai's
To insult Qatar's Sheikh,
Both allies and friends.

In Sharjah, Emirates,
For a time, was teacher,
There I met like myself,
Syrian young teacher.

Had escaped genocide,
By Assad, in Hama.

Intelligent and learned,
Talked of past, present:
"Child of dog, always dog
As is Sheikh's and Sultan's."

I could not work for them
Most of sheikhs are rotten,
Their life means corruption!

I knew sheikhs' morals,
Theirs stink like swamp,
Could not sell my pride!
