A Man On A Ledge Poem by Khaleel Steir

A Man On A Ledge

Jump! Do it!
The crowd of ants call to you
Do it, you're a coward1
You're not wanted here

Time slows as you zone out from the world
You hear a voice, it's soothing
Soothing like the warmth from the sun
You walk towards the voice

As you begin to fall, reality peels away
Slowly drifting into darkness
Your life plays like a movie before your eyes
You let go of this world and begin to embrace the darkness

You slowly begin to stop falling
Slowly, ever so slowly touch the ground
The ground suddenly lights up, bright as a star
You're standing on a picture, a picture of your funeral

The Reaper greets you with open arms
Rest in Peace my son.
May you be treated well in the afterlife.
You will be missed here.
