A Lesson On Love Poem by Chase Breeden

A Lesson On Love

Rating: 5.0

Learning what love was
Was something I hated
Searching for something
That could not be created
And yet generated
Every day still
I came to believe
Love's a power of will
The will I don't have
The will to want more
The will that is no longer
Being sought for
Love's a battle of conflict
A battle of shame
Love's a battle that's rare
A battle most only claim
Love's a struggle with learning
And a struggle with fear
Love's a struggle with change
And a struggle of years
Love can bring a man up
Or tear a man down
Make him soar to Cloud Nine
Or bury him underground
But there's also a love
That will never fade
It's a scarce kind of love,
You won't find in ninth grade
A love that won't leave you
Always remains true
A love, always faithful
To no one but you
A love that keeps thriving
Through the struggle, and pain
A love for which I'm striving
One to pull through the rain
A love to assure me
Things will always be okay
And the day I find THAT love
Will be the end of weary days
