Yunus Emre

(1238-1320 / Turkey)

Ağla Gözüm Ağla

Ağla gözüm ağla, gülmezem gayrı,
Gönül dosta gider, gelmezem gayrı.

Ne gam bunda bana bin kez ölürsem,
Orda ölüm olmaz, ölmezem gayrı.

Yansın canım, yansın aşkın oduna,
Aksın kanlı yaşım, silmezem gayrı.

Göyündüm aşk ile ta kül olunca,
Boyandım rengine, solmazam gayrı.

Beni irşad eden mürşidi kâmil,
Yeter, bir el daha almazam gayrı.

Varlığım yokluğa değişmişim ben,
Bugün cana başa kalmazam gayrı.

Fenadan bâkîye göç eder olduk,
Yöneldim şol yola, dönmezem gayrı.

Muhabbet bahrının gavvası oldum,
Gerekmez, Ceyhun’a dalmazam gayrı.

Dilerim fazlından ayırmayasın,
Tanrım, senden özge sevmezem gayrı.

Söyler aşık dilinden bunu Yunus,
Eğer aşık isem, ölmezem gayrı.

Poem of the Day

poet Emily Jane Brontë

I am the only being whose doom
No tongue would ask no eye would mourn
I never caused a thought of gloom
A smile of joy since I was born

In secret pleasure - secret tears
