A Humble Prayer Poem by Bireswar Halder

A Humble Prayer

O Lord, give me strength to bear all pains and grief
So I can hide in core of my heart and transform it into a smile
I don't like to share my pains with anybody around me
As neither do they like to see a gloomy face nor hear others' sighs.

O Lord, give me courage and power to face all uncertainties
And dispel all my ignorance and light the lamp of knowledge
Burn into ashes all my impurities of mind, all my phony glosses
Bless me to be more equanimous in all junctures and torments.

O Lord, give me wisdom and knowledge to squash my ego
As it obstructs your blessings and it shrouds me as a cloudy sky
And veils on the eyes to extinguish power to see the outside world
Bless me to spread message of peace with full of energy and vigour.

O Lord, show me light so as to walk on right track of life
Making me a torch-bearer for others who are bogged in the dark
Please fill my heart with love, sympathy and pity to share with the needy
I seek only grace and mercy without which I am miserably incomplete.

O Lord, you are omnipresent and very compassionate to all
I want no worldly pleasures that will keep me far away from you
Rather I am ready to accept all pains and miseries gladly
So that I can keep remembering you every moment till my last breath.
