A Glass Locket Poem by Deborah White

A Glass Locket

This poem was inspired by my fathers life long passion for Doris Day and her song, 'Once I had a secret love'

-------------------------

One tiny borrowed kiss is all I have of you.
One perfect moment in time captured
unspoilt sweet gentle and still true.

To be carried forever and always locked safely
in a fragile glass heart. One tiny precious kiss
and a lifetimes dream, we won’t ever really part.

You don’t know I exist, I don’t think you even
know my name; but from that one cherished
moment in time my life will never be the same.

My secret love will be protected always and
forever; transparent in a delicate locket of glass.
One half is faithfully yours, the other half is mine.

A locket worn for you always,
forever and for eternity; until the end of time.
