A Game Of Truth N Dare Poem by Anamika Goswami

A Game Of Truth N Dare

Remember the first night we stayed up together?
You started a game of truth and dare,
I played along....

I said, 'he should have a sense of humour'.
You said check...
I said, 'he should make me feel wanted'.
You said check...
I said, 'he should be able to talk to me for hours or listen to me'.
You said check...
I said, 'he should have my back'.
You said check...

You remember the night?
You remember the game?
You lost the checklist because I said yes?

I never got a smile, a laugh from you...
I thought it was my fault, you let me believe it.
I apologised again and again and you let me do it.
I lay down with you every nite and loved you with my soul...
And my insecurities irritated you.
Everytime I try to tell you how I feel...
You say, you are tired of my tantrums.
Everytime I try to tell you what I want...
You say, you are tired of the fights.

You can't give me the hallowed ring...
I never wanted it.
What I want was to belong to you.
What I want is for you to show me sometimes that I matter.
There are no flowers no rainbows no diamonds for me...
There are no moon or the stars for me...
I can live by it...
What I need is to feel present in your existence.

All I wish is...this to be not just a game.....
