A Fight For Life Poem by Abby Belmont

A Fight For Life

Rating: 5.0

At a young age I was challenged
My life was put on the line
A battle few can ever conquer
With very little time

A battle I couldn't fight alone
Time gets shorter and shorter each day
The pain of it all like a crushing stone
This is stealing my life away

Since I was so young
I didn't know what was going on
A fight for my life had begun
And doctors knew it wouldn't be long

I looked in the mirror and I saw me
Then I wondered 'how can this be? '
I never thought I'd be fighting for my life
To live doesn't everybody have that right?

My battle was drawing close
And my family feared I would die
All the medicine, I needed more than a dose
Inside I wouldn't give up I would fight to try

Someting so small can kill you
I didn't feel it so I never knew
That this battle was skin cancer
And I won so the war is over
