A Drive To Gainesville Poem by Natarajan Ramaseshan

A Drive To Gainesville

The morn was cold, cloudy and dark
Half past seven, we did embark
On a trip to town of Gainesville.
It was nothing but God's sweet will!
Car revved up as engine roared
On a black silk ribbon like road.
Drops of rain turned into drizzle
Headlamps of cars went a dazzle
Setting was sylvan, mood upbeat
Radio music was classic treat!
Windscreen wipers moved left and right
Were they drummer's sticks? - what a sight!
Swayed their heads roadside trees so tall
Like listeners in a concert hall!
Nature spoke with poetic eloquence
Oh was it true or dream sequence?

(On 3rd May,2014, I drove with my family from Orlando to Gainesville to attend my daughter's graduation at University of Florida. A pleasant drive inspired me to write this poem)
