A Chinese Poem About Moon

what time does the bright moon appear? let me hold up the wine cup to
ask the azure sky.
i wonder now in the celestial imperial palace which year this nice
night is in.
i desire to go the east by riding the wind, yet i'm afraid the high
place in the gorgeous building made of jades of the sky is overwhelmed by
coldness.
i play with my shadow on the ground while dancing heartily alone, how
can the heaven compare favourably with the human world?
the bright moon light shiftes from the red mansion above to the
exquisite window below, which makes people in the bed sleepless all night.
but i doubt the moon shouldn't nurse grievances.
pitifully, why is the moon alwayse round and full at the time people part
company?
in our life there exists sorrow and joy, parting and going together just
as the moon varies between waning and waxing.
all things can never be perfect and complete from ancient time to the
present.
only may our lives be long enough, although being a long way away from
each other we can share the beauty of the moon.

this is by Li Bai
