A Burial Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

A Burial

Echoes from the past may sometimes linger
When the night is darkest and most silent,
Fragments of bitter images, a reminder
Hidden sorrows refrain a lament.

Hours seem to drag and uncover
Scars of wounds that healed long ago,
As the heart sinks in tortured dolor
An awareness the mind refuses to know.

Will is forced to shun what's gone,
Like soil on the ground where coffins lay,
Sleepless nights, Pain's burial is done
Tears from the eyes, wash the dead away.
