A Black Rose Wilting From Within Poem by to those who wonder what life is about

A Black Rose Wilting From Within

Rating: 5.0

Can you see the black rose
sitting there in the field
all alone among other roses
that are red and white

Why does this one rose
stand alone among them all?
Could it be because it is black
and not like the rest

Some admire to stand alone
in a world that can be so cold
Some despise to stand apart
by others from which they get support

Look closer - still closer
for you can begin to see
the black rose start to wilt
from within.

Why not from without
you might ask.
Standing alone gets lonely
the rose wants to change to be like others

Only to kill off
the unique beauty that is held
within to be shown without, so
the black rose is wilting from within not without
