A Bird Poem by Asma Khan

A Bird

Rating: 4.8

A bird came flying
and sat beside me.
I was there she did not see,
on the grass down she swooped.

She glanced everywhere,
with her eyes rolling.
After her followed her baby there.
Hoppity hop tweeting.

I strewed some seeds.
She ate and fed the baby with her beak.
Tweety tweet twittering.
On the pebbles hopping.

Then they disappeared.
In the long grass they camouflaged.
When I clapped,
Their wings flapped.

The birds came out,
She saw me and flew.
Perched on the hammock clew,
with her baby stout.

Squeaking, chirping,
and swinging.
Tweet tweet she said,
as if saying thank you she fled.
