3-5-13 Poem by Shelby Barker

3-5-13

I feel like I'm missing something.
Is it a city? a
challenge? a friend?
night lights,
a racing heartbeat,
the point of my youth?
Am I missing the point?
Maybe the point is happiness
in places other than love.
I am happily in love.
I am not happy with my town
myself
my habits -
I have warmth in my heart
but no smile six days of the week.
Do not take this insultingly, dear,
for without you,
I would be missing everything.
Let's find our city
and be young.
