Merlene Campbell Poems

Water pours down, the drops spread apart
The flow runs together and unity starts
One big mistake is thinking the drops are alike
When equality is not the unity's strife
...

Little Johnny
Beep, Beep, Creep, Creep
The bug runs along in the sand
Sweep, Sweep, Peep, Peep
...

You molded me once
Living art of love
Then shattering pieces
Flew like a dove
...

Go
Take my heart
Go run and play
I will pray to have another day
...

So cold the winter seed
Within the frost a meager need
Seeking the sun the light and warmth
To be coddled like the normal sort
...

We stayed inside from the storm
Outside the wind blew
The trees banged and the windows rattled
My younger brother was there
...

Whittier Hills of Rose

This is where she lays
In Rose Hills the ducks will play
...

The soul is written
Still in the moments to come
It seems all that was written, is done
An empty heart still aching near
...

Devil's Lair

I've been inside the Devil's Lair
The girls were dancing everywhere
...

On that night, I remember clear
Those eyes of lies and no fear
As I smiled when I saw his face
He broke my heart without embrace
...

When I looked into her eyes

As if she could see through my skin
As if she could see to my soul
...

It hits you with an impact twice the size of gravity
A catalytic event where the seconds don't move
Capable of adjusting the planets to a single parallel
Where the temporal plane ceases to exist in each outlook
...

All around the world
People disagree as if they were three
They cannot share
They show no care
...

Invisible until I am needed
I wait watching the conceded
Their lives are so important
Yet mine is more unnoticed
...

One day you kiss me as the love that touches my life.
The next day your words stab me like the edge of a knife.

Can we ever live together?
...

I look through a perfect window
My fingertips glide across the thick glass
Yet this time it might just be an hourglass
Is this window rose tinted?
...

So calm you could hear song of day
Nothing moves nothing swayed.
The house creaks and settles it's quiet
Alone awakened naturally calmly
...

Tired of waiting for the day to come
When civility is a welcome friend
A home where anger is not a key
To answering feelings that you have for me.
...

19.

Trust, a yet unreasonable belief
Life, what a shameful place to be
What reasons you had to stray
Took my heart away
...

Let me go
Let me play
Let me take my heart away
Take alone the tearful cries the place I hide
...

Equality

Water pours down, the drops spread apart
The flow runs together and unity starts
One big mistake is thinking the drops are alike
When equality is not the unity's strife
They struggle together in a stream all their own
Yet in the distance is a magical tone
Drops none yet alike ask for equality within their right
Some are much bigger with a more powerful punch
Some so small you would think they were none
Then in the middle the more that they fall
A stream is created out of them all
Together much stronger, as some of them know
Creates a river and a constant flow
