The people certainly had to be strong
The trails they blazed were amazing
And the days incredibly long

What fun it is to bake a cake
Designed and baked by me
I love creating this wonderful
Sweet and pretty delicacy

As I sit and look out my window
I watch as the hummingbirds
Swarm my tempting bird feeder
I’m captivated beyond words

Sometimes it’s a lot of fun
To turn back the pages of time
Go back fifty years or more
Stop everything to look behind

It’s hard to believe that still
Today in modern times
Technology has been frozen
It’s exciting though, I find

I go to church on Sunday
And reflect the week before
I pray to God for help
With what next week has in store

As time goes on we always hope
That advancement is being made
So in the case of Black History
We must never let progress fade
...

There is nothing that makes me feel
Closer to God than a country scene
A soft and gentle lifestyle
I'll bet you know what I mean

When spring flowers open up
And fields turn bright with color
The air is fragrant under warming sun
It’s a world unlike any other

Oh, how I love to go back

When my ancestors lived
