But mere and mortal

Mother most pure
Spotless, meek and devout
An epitome of purity
Carved by the master

Here we are again
Blood dripping in sweat’s place
Anguish sounding in joy’s place
Loss counting in gain’s place
...

Never seen so pure a virtue
Not many may dare to pursue
That one may be without a she
Is such a wow to me
...

You think you can
I know you can
But calmer still your rage reserve
In quiet they all come your way
...

From the troubles of zoe
The throes of love
The fallacies of lust
The destruction of infatuation
...

And the words keep ringing in my head
She says she cannot take it anymore
She says she is losing her head
I feel I am the worst of all

All night long
The roar of man is heard
In sleep our calms reveal
At least none ever violent
