Jody Renee Pantiga Poems

1.

Words may not
Tear flesh, break bones
The way sticks do
...

Dear You,
You know who you are
speaking of broken bloody hearts
as if you were the first to know
...

3.

I try to make myself forget
The way you smell,
How your chest feels
Under my fingertips
...

-here’s to the night-

When I began to say goodbye
Staring into the fire
...

The doctors said you died
Some time before
...

What do you see
As I stand before you,

Words

Words may not
Tear flesh, break bones
The way sticks do

They sneak under
The defenses
Leaving you bleeding
From the heart.

Words may not
Pull the trigger alone
But can be they catalyst
To the one holding the gun.

Words may not
Stab you with steel
But prick even harder
Depending on who utters what...

Words may not
Be of a physical essence
But still the fact remains
Words may be deadly
When used to harm.
