Jennifer Hartman Poems

I'm going
To miss these
Windows.
I can see my childhood
...

I don't want to close my eyes
Sleep's luring song fails to enchant tonight
Fury flurries about my thoughts
And covers over the dusting
...

I shoot out angular
A mass of points and
Stark straight lines
To stick you with my urgency
...

Like some deranged goddess
Given up order for chaos
The temple for the jungle
I'd dash through the thick with you
...

Moving On

I'm going
To miss these
Windows.
I can see my childhood
From up here.
They frame my happiness-
The memories of.
Outside of them,
Awaits a future I can't see,
A hope I could regain.

I keep you in mind.
The part of my past
Beyond these wooden frames,
A part of me I could never
Waste away.
A part of me I will bring
To the future.

You're the gift-
The memory of-
And my hope
Regained.
