Translucence

The waves break like signs
Rise and fall,
Crash into spraying light,
Bright, tight, hold,
The shards unfold,
Beneath a gaping sight,
Fresh as the breath of a cold night;
The scattering sounds flee,
That preying might,
Which will not leave a,
Stone unturned,
And burn into a loose mind;
Once more an umpteenth time,
Smash onto the shore,
Fiery bright.

There's no respite,
From this aching noise,
The buoys bounce,
Strain from stories
Told and retold;
Then pick up some slimy dust,
As day breaks through,
And if ...
