There's a beast at the threshold
He hungers for meat

The Beast

There's a beast at the threshold
He hungers for meat
Ten thousand bones lay under his feet
He cannot be poisoned
Nor killed with a blade
Offer him bait and he'll take you instead

There's a beast at the threshold
But surrender your arms
Lay down your body and he will be calmed
Lay like the river lays in the rock
Lay like the ocean, though you're but a drop
Weep not for your life, your humble few days
Look into his eyes and be not afraid
He will lay too, and allow you to pass
For you are worthy of crossing the path
