Lion Poem by Daniel Spencer

Lion

I became aware,
as my eyes met yours,
that whilst you were surrounded
by boundaries of thick glass,
you were not contained
by them;
nor by even your own flesh,
as I am not contained by mine.

I became aware that you were an expression
of me, but I had forgotten
that there is no 'you' apart from 'I'.

I became aware.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was inspired by the rapture I experienced when observing a lion in my local zoo.
