You used to call me negative
Because I loathed our polaroids
I never liked how lost I looked
Like something wasn't there
...

When you can't read young books
Cause they all seem so crude
When you can't watch new movies
Cause they make no sense to you

Do you see poetry in flowing dress?

As silk cloth dances to the wind's old tune.

I follow convention through thick and thin.

A-B-A-B symphonies cloud my mind.

I have thousands of thoughts about war overseas

With millions of men all dying for naught

Defenseless and Deceived
Dejected and Desperate
Destroys Deliberately
Deformed Diligence

Distortion

You used to call me negative
Because I loathed our polaroids
I never liked how lost I looked
Like something wasn't there
But you would say that they looked great
And so we smiled until I snapped
Now all that's left are photographs
And I still hate my face
I frame my thoughts a million ways
And cycle through each scrapbook page
To find a time when we looked nice
What I would give to just look nice
But we never were, and now I know
You'll always look more beautiful
When I'm not in the picture
