YeouCheng Ma Poems

A gentle blend of primaries
Running through the spectrum
Evoked by the haunted.
An echo of prior breaches
...

Past the memories and the silent sorrows
I must bury within the core of my soul,
I speak only of the beauty of the day
The evanescent peace of mind
...

A long time ago, dewdrops reminded me of lasting beauty
I thought preserving them in my memory was sufficient.
Now I bear within me the crystalline beauty of distilled pain,
Forcing my spirit to mold to changes dictated by circumstances.
...

God has made each of us a poet,
By our words, our deeds, our students
And with Her Grace, our progeny.
...

Today, I actually smiled,
Looking at a blue wildflower...
I could hardly believe it,
The miracle
...

I am the keeper of the silence,
The debits, credits and balances,
I am the keeper of the silence,
The hunger, and filling of the void,
...

It comes to us gently,
This confrontation with the void.
First, it’s a lost phone number,
Or a password to some account,
...

A small patch of blue
Gives hope to the most frail
With promises of spring
And fresh flowers.

The Color Of Empathy

A gentle blend of primaries
Running through the spectrum
Evoked by the haunted.
An echo of prior breaches
Into the ocean of primal pain
The birthplace of so many songs
No more longing, indeed
The song reflects, short of primal rage
No more, because the object faded
Or the desire extinguished
By default, when the supplicant
Finally succumbed, to the rainbow
Of aquamarine wave crests
And lavender dreams.
