I stand in the rain
the drops dripping in my coffee
Mountains in the distance
fog far away
...

I sit looking out at the rain
It's about all I can do
A solitary bird is perched on the highest branch
He's chirping and I feel he's saying

I'm not really frightened of this cancer per se,
I am frightened of it coming back.
I'm frightened mostly that I haven't done a good job
of taking care of myself.
