Always Be Careful

I remember the summer
Of 2010 vividly.
The leaves danced in the wind
The smell of breakfast
Rushed into my nose
From the kitchen.
The clouds were like a gray sheep's wool.
I was whittling on a stump,
When the bugler came calling,
I tried to put the blade away,
My hand slipped and slit my thumb
A bandage on for the rest of camp.
