She Is Gone

My tears are rolling, for she is gone!
My friend for life but not that long,
For life is short; there was no cure,
Her eyes of trusting love endure.
And in my heart she's with me still,
In memory and in strength of will.
But food was her first love;
And walkies, mud; and free grub!
Those joyous moments and playful follies,
Of yogurt pots and ice-cream lollies,
Of cakes, and toast and treats galore,
Well spoiled, yet - still wanting more!
That soulful look of 'Give it here! ',
Forgetting not, her taste for beer!
And yet in sleep she lives the dream,
Of running fast, by leaf and stream;
Of chasing birds; And cats too,
And rolling in some foxes poo!
But, alas, all this is lost,
For life is cruel and at such cost.
My friend's stopped breathing; something's wrong!
My tears are rolling, for she is gone!
