Remnants Poem by Anthony Dawson

Remnants

Rating: 4.8

Your face retains the remnants of yesterday
Your clothes and dwelling all entered this passage through yesterday
Yesterday is etched in your love

The remnants of you and me are now part of the battlefield
Upon which we waged war
They lie scattered so not even we, ourselves, us, can find any trace of what was

Our love will become hieroglyphs to tomorrow -
Symbols which even we will find hard to decipher

What is lost is still there
Splintered amongst a million minds who aren’t quiet sure of the answer

I told you once that god was moulded yesterday to make the next tolerable
To keep you and me from breaking the truth with the remnants of yesterday.

The remenants of yesterday give meaning to tommorow. I now have something to think about. Thank you. Ghada
