Factory Work Poem by Anthony Dawson

Factory Work

Rating: 3.3

I can't yet hear the grind of the factory
I have just woken and my heart is racing
My heart is a racing fuse
Today I begin life as someone else
Not a homely mind minus worry
Today I repeat, and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat

Monotony, sweat, the urge to run
The same procedure, the same procedure
Lucky I have an odd imagination
It eases the weight on my eyes,
The strain beneath the skull,
The thought of another day trying to sleep
Under a blue sky which just wants to fall
Into my mouth and make it all just disappear
Just disappear into someone else's problem

Everything repeats itself though
Like my pacing heart
Never ever exploding
Only on the verge
Dangling from a cliff
Over and over and over and over
