My Favorite Mistake Poem by Julie Neises

My Favorite Mistake

Rating: 5.0

My favorite mistake
keeps stringing me along.
It reminds me of the place
I used to belong.

I think of former friends
making me feel alright.
But that was long before
I set my dreams alight.

I can't even remember
why I said what I did.
Or why I went so far to hide
what need not be hid.

Youth is no excuse
for treating them with disdain.
I have no excuse
for causing others pain.

When I'm pulled into
my next relaspse.
I hope to be forgiven
for my latest mishap.

This was done well until the last verse. I don't know what happened but it wasn't good. GW62

Understanding is the key to forgiveness Julie, and your poem is a great explanation of why we sometimes do and say things we would never normally even think, never mind say. I love the title too. Well done. Smiling at you, Tai

The title is excellent, having a “favorite” mistake is wonderful. The mistake is accepted and I love the fact that you do not ask forgiveness for the initial mistakes, only for the ones who shall make. Outstanding. You are true to yourself, when many of us are not. Great stuff, Jules.
