'Might' Poem by Hannah Davies

'Might'

Something doesn't seem right
It's that word again, 'might'.
She 'might' be ill
But the results haven't come back still.

Surely she must see?
Why it's so difficult for me?
She has lied to me before
So this time, I'm not so sure.

I don't wish her any real harm
And I'm trying to remain calm.
I want to believe she's telling the truth
But unfortunately I need to ask for proof.

Could she really have the 'big c'?
Or is she just trying to manipulate me?
I want to know what's going on
But feel my right to ask has gone.

I wait to hear the news from others
Getting ready to support my brothers.
This coud be justice?
And she made it come to this!

Be careful what you wish for
Cause you may just get it, plus more.
I know she's trying to be cunning
But don't think that I will come running.

Even if mum had got cancer
Doesn't mean that I can forgive her.
I can't let her mess with my head
Our love has been a long time dead.

Let's wait for the results of the tests
Then all this speculation can be put to rest.
I'm sorry if she's truly ill
But I'm waiting for an apology still.
