I Cry Poem by Nyx C Styx

I Cry

i cry
because fate did not grapple
she was kind
and we chose to be unkind
to ourselves

i cry
at the dreams fate shook like coins
in the palm of her hand to the beggar
and having the coin and thinking it wasn't good enough
tossed it aside and settled for nothingness

i cry
that on all the plains of this earth
and canopy of sky
and velvet waters
there is no place i call home
except that which is barren of breath
of another being

i cry
at the thick silence between us
because custom and modesty
deny me your lips

i cry
for the accused God
to whom fingers are pointed
and the other hand wraps the noose around the neck

I cry
these eyes don't dry
