Ask Poem by D A Phinney

Ask

Ask me
I will tell you I take no chances
I let the rivers run their courses
I let the mountains rest big and dumb overseeing all
They shall not notice me
Give me a song to sing I will not change it
I have no new verses
The sun shines as before and will not blink
Ask me
If tomorrow grows closer I have not seen it
I will not speculate
Point to any new leader
I tell you this one is not new
Tell me everything everything changes
I will not try to change your mind
I hold still
I am still and quick
The worlds spin 'round
Stars dance
The galaxy keels about
The Universe resonates with dizzy vibration
Everywhere rushes to no conclusion
Circling
Spiraling in on itself
While I
I have dismounted form the wooden horse
I stand within myself
Unyoked
Unmoved
Balanced in time
I see the foundations
I see the spires
They are the same
I tell you I take no chances
And still you
And yet you
In spite of it all you
Ask me
For a kiss
