Shyam Chakraborty Poems

The first glance of you,
The moment my eyes beheld your countenance,
It was clear dawn, redolence of you intoxicate
And roses that never shrivels,
...

Resting in your caressing lap
I found my world, desolate I was,
I am not ashamed of this body,
My drunken lusts for moonless sky
...

I talk with them in my room,
The guests arrive like migrating birds
Their consummate wings for perfect seasons,
Their inscrutable gestures and incoherent voices,
...

When I opened my mouth,
The waves made their way
My haywire tongue that surged
My long confined words,
...

5.

Still I quest your love,
In sands the spellings scribbled,
The waves did not wait and
Took away the words.
...

She walked daintily down the steps,
The charm she holds,
The sensuous petals opening in dawn….
The dews sprinkled in the cold.
...

When I hear him saying love,
I take my shirt off and show him
The scars, the ache undergone
When sky was silent…
...

In your silence I weep,
The bewildered lines of my pen
Not enough to shape my tears.
The silence rests at night nearby
...

Your nearness that I fancied
Stretching out underneath the night firmament,
The blazing stars and bleary moonlight’s hasty gleam,
The phosphoresce fireflies shimmered in nocturnal winds,
...

Haven’t we scuttled through the worn out avenues
Like enervated ramblers? We had dreams
That glimpsed to be one, those pubescent visages
Were like pearls twined in singular yarn.
...

Time passes in desolate twilit
Evening endures the aphotic crave
The dusk may reign for hour or two…
The darker stage of twilight may fade
...

Brother, *Amma is well, though
Still she breaths with handful dreams
The elegant days in happy swing
The aeons fled in twisting magnitude

The Moment

The first glance of you,
The moment my eyes beheld your countenance,
It was clear dawn, redolence of you intoxicate
And roses that never shrivels,
The petals of which strewn on me,
I adored your entity, the fondness
I acquired within twinkling of an eye,
The stranger gazed with love.
The moment the special bond composed
With lyrics and rhythms, my heart crooned
In hushed gaiety. Each minute we chatted
In alphabets, we lived hand in hand,
The fragrance of which still sustains.
The night in raven hue, the ceaseless
Edgy brooding for you, my endurance
Corroded. Far-off I stand, the spasm of
Distance, that apart you and me,
Burying my face in the pillow I shed tears
In quietude. The moment you made me yours,
You glimpsed as a dream, the forebodings
Of passing fancy, nothing in my control.
The seasons changed in my absence,
Now as the sky whimpers in my windswept life,
My harrowing flames inside me blazes strongly,
In season of love when lovers hold hands,
I tell you not to trust me,
For the pang of my heart will touch yours,
And in parting desolation alone you’ll be
In vexing stupor. Now as you’ll look at the
Crystal moon, don’t scribble my name there,
For the saddest lines will never fade away
And let my face wane in your memories,
As if I am a lost man of bygone tale.
