Rain On Me (Reign In Me)

I opened my eyes to a white Monday morning
Unable to see the blue expanse I love
The smell of earth was rising from the ground
and I knew Rain was coming.

I closed my eyes, hoping for sleep
And thoughts of you, like raindrops,
Rampantly fell inside the walls of my mind.
My heart soon flooded with yearning
and grew berserk for just one more day in your arms.

Rain did come
In two ways I know
In both ways sweet and unbearable
Like seeing an oasis in a dry and desert place
The waters cascaded over me only as I'd imagined them
But oh, if only reality allowed it.
My heart is parched
and I've grown restless,
Hoping and longing for that Rain.

...
But He is all-wise and all-loving
My God, who is always in control.
My heart would cease from wanting
Only when I am content in Him.
May You rain on my heart that I may be full and complete
May You reign in me
And have all these consuming desires
May You just take Your rightful place
And mend me
As I quiet my stubborn, groaning heart.
