Big Girls

I was a hopeless child numb and troubled mostly about things I didn't even understand I cried every time I thought of misfortunes l faced. They kept saying big girls don't cry and there I was as I thought one day I will be a big girl. I said all will be easy then I will get a star and graduate then become a police woman and the woman in the magazine.

My dreams kept me going so everytime I got mistreated by anyone I would cry I got a reminder that big girls don't cry Year after another my dreams became a nightmare things fell apart like sand castle and hopes I had for my future melted like snow in the rising sun after a short winter when all the trees I thought were yellowed with fruits came trembling down and I picked leaves in place of the fruits then I saw my dreams vanish before my very big girl eyes I cried so bitterly that I understood big girls do cry.
