Yet, when I let myself get too close,

Sunrise appears on the horizon
as I lay here beside you
I caress you softly with my eyes,
drinking in your beauty

Eyes like caves
that lead to nowhere
Lips spread wide,
they sneer at me
...

They stare at me
through cold iron bars
Eyes glimmer with
faint recognition
...

Is Halloween a day when
young ones dress
in masks,
grotesquely disfiguring
...

Loves warmth had
surrounded her for years
It has all but let her go
She is only a shadow
...

If love is something that is given freely,
then why is it costing so much to maintain?
If love is supposed to come with no strings,
then why am I tangled in such a web?
