(why?)

after the lies & alibis

She thinks it's better
to stand her ground
& say nothing,
like a loser weary poker head

(To too many people I know doing Life in prison)

Prison is a place
between the living & the dead

I could not stop for death*
even after,
my daddy died from pneumonia
when I was like 4 or 5 years old

(To My Wife Stacey)

inseperable
like two sides

(The source of demons)

There was no answers
as the methodically folded

I resort in sacred chambers
To meditate on an untouchable
Presence….
Tirades of passion simmer

(why?)

after the lies & alibis
that unmask this moment
of makeshift bliss...
how do we explain this
your skin next to mine
us lying here twisted up
like Philadelphia pretzels
in the dawn of morning...
the soft sun touching
our naked display
through the venetian blinds
of this shabby hotel room...
where the musky fragrance
of our lustful betrayal
lingers thick in the air
(do they know?)
(do we even care?)
a strong breeze of guilt
drifts over our resting bodies
from a slightly opened window
which reluctantly peeks at the world
we managed to escape for a night...
no matter how good it felt
(or feels, or does it?)
the fact remains we must return
to our mates, our children, our lives
hiding these memories in our minds;
like two strangers in the night
we wake, we shower, we kiss goodbye
answering no questions, confirming no ties...
why?
why?
why?
