Professor MarylynDolly Itu Biography

Professor Marylyn-Dolly is a Nigerian. As a young girl growing up, she had a strong imclination for science, but also loved writing. After completion of her secondary education (High school) , she was advised to go to the university and since she had the passion, she ventured into the university where she began studying Biochemistry at the GREAT UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN (UI) THE FIRST AND THE BEST IN NIGERIA AND ONE OF THE BEST IN AFRICA. Her thoroughness and meticulous attribute made her scale through as she graduated as one of the best STUDENTS in the early 80s. However her passion for education and research began to blossom at thid time, but as a normal Nigerian and African girl in her 20s, she was chased and sorted by men of substances, in which she declined all. She applied for a scholarship and as God willing, she clinched it and that was how she travelled out of Nigeria at that time for the Master degree program in biochemistry in which her project was the very first in the NUTRICEUTICAL field of biochemistry with lemon-grass extracts. She didnt stop there, but continued earnestly since the opportunity was available, she immediately started her PhD in Clinical Biochemistry and her thesis was also a pioner study. On completion of her PhD, she wanted to continue over there in the UK possibly to teach, lecture and do more research at The University of London, but it wasnt possible as she had already fallen in Love and needed to go back home with her lover who has been waiting for her. And so she went back to Nigeria. On returning home, it was a far cry and the government has not started paying the least bit of attention to research and so her journey began and many novel and innovative ideas and practicals she had learnt from The University of London could not be practised in Nigeria, because of lack of technical facilities and so she had to slow down and pay more attention to family while still following research and Teaching at the University of Lagos at the same time. She started outrightly as a Lecturer 2 and had to do a lot of research before her promotion began. Eventually she rose to the rank of a Full Professor in the year 2012 and was crowned by God with that post as the FRUIT of her academic journey.
