Zombie Rock Poem by J.M Berger

Zombie Rock

Love, what a good idea
Time, it extends into infinity but that's still not enough
Hope, may be hopeless:
A man on the floor praying for the time when he didn't need a God

Now I'm too tired to close my eyes
But I don't feel so bad
Still I know I've been too lazy
And it breaks my heart
If I could hold a mirror to my soul
Would it crack, or glisten?
Just because I already know the answer
Doesn't mean the question's not worth asking
And I still smell like Burger King,24 hours later
The night that will never end, with a thick mist hanging

Watching the zombies meander
Doing their daily chores
They try to think good thoughts
But all of their thoughts are mush
Some look at me with a plea in their eyes
They recognize me, so there must be something I can do?
